“There is no trans body, no body at all — no memoir, no confessions, no singular story of "you" or anyone — outside this broad and awful legacy. So when they ask for our story — when they want to sell it — we don't let them forget.”

―  Jordy Rosenberg, Confessions of the Fox

About

NAEBINARY is a trans zine/newsletter showcasing work by and for trans people. It celebrates and adds visibility and recognition for trans experiences.

We’re looking for raw, joyful, angry, creative work that speaks trans truth in all its forms.

Submission FAQ

NAEBINARY seeks to feature a wide range of submission formats.
  • What to send:
    Essays, poetry, manifestos, rants
    Comics, drawings, collages, photos
    Protest flyers, letters, love notes
    Anything that speaks trans truth!

Trans-run businesses, venues, and underrepresented local spaces that need more visibility are also platformed.

Submissions need not be transition-specific. If it expresses something about your experience as a trans person, we want to see it. More issues are to come and new work that reflects any part of trans identity/life is always welcome.

We welcome submissions from anyone who lives in or has lived in Scotland or the UK but you don’t have to be Scottish to submit. NAEBINARY is committed to an intersecitional approach — uplifting trans voices from all walks of life and across multiple identities. Trans experience in all their complexity is our main focus, and there are so many shared threads regardless of where those stories come from.

If your submission is not included in the current edition, it may be held and featured in future issues — there will be more chances to be published.

As a developing project, guidelines may evolve and grow.

The zine will be distributed though community spaces, venues, bookshops, clubs, and made available online in accessible formats upon request. Drop a message over email or instagram if you are interested in helping with distro, have questions, or just want to chat!
